Transplant Tales: to China and back

Monday, March 6, 2006
We decided to do a little more sight seeing today. We started off by grabbing a Starbucks Coffee and took off walking. Today we took no maps, just a couple names of places written in Chinese characters by the front desk. BIG RISK TAKERS!! The following are pictures of the everyday hustle and bustle around us.
This is an overpass for pedestrian. As you can see the sun is out as well as the haze.

Here is a couple picture of the fantastic buildings. Eric likes these pictures since they show the new and up coming Shanghai mixed in with the older areas.

They have every possible means of transportation here. Bicycles, mopedes, motorcycles, buses, and my favorite, Taxis!!

A typical alley between buildings, and everyone hangs their clothes to dry.

Hi Guys!

We miss you, Jorge can't wait till Eric gets back! Sounds like your seeing alot there in China. Jorge wants to see what the hockers look like in China, isn't that Jorge for you..... Nothing new with us same old stuff, I did close my deal on the house...so hopefully there will be more to sell.

Goodnite

Hello Lori and Dad,

No maps, Daring! It seems like you were able to see a lot and made it back just fine.

Today is Monday and I was back at work to start another week, weather in Portland is overcast and rainy. So no real changes from the norm. How is the weather in China....it seems similar to Portland, but minus the rain.

I had a fun time in CA visiting with Julia, we went to the movies and saw Aquamarine. It was basically a remake of splash, but for about 7-12 year olds. Other than that we just played games and did some puzzles. I had a good time.

Glad to hear from you both and look forward to hearing what your up to tomorrow!

Love,
Cristina :)
